The Greenland Fishery Project – Whale-Making Workshops
After the success of the Open Studios Whale-Whorkshops, we’ll be doing more – showing how we make Leather Whales and offering Greenland Fishery Project customers an opportunity to have a go at making one for themselves. There’s no fee for the tuition but we ask that you buy the whale you make at its list price.
The Intro to Leather WhaleMaking involves a day at the Greenland Fishery in King’s Lynn and it’s split into three ninety-minute sessions, roughly:
- 10am -11.30: About leather and pattern-making;
- 12 midday – 1.30: Marking and Cutting out. Includes making the fins, flukes and eyes, and
- 2pm – 3.30: Putting it all together. Sewing, stuffing and closing.
* Open to customers who’ve bought a leather whale, Maximum 3 peeps per whorkshop. Over 12’s only. As there’s some big old steps and very uneven C17th floors, the Greenland Fishery isn’t accessible to wheelchairs, sorry.
By booking only: Email to jon@greenland-fishery.org.uk
