This one\u2019s half the size of our Full-Sized Humpback Whale – around 50cm in length.<\/p>\n
Made of a shiny dark blue leather with a pristine white (\u2018BabyBuck Nappa\u2019) tummy, she\u2019ll grace any room – whether it\u2019s hanging from a beam or resting on a shelf.
\nOccasional cuddles are in order.<\/p>\n
The Humpback Whale is a Baleen Whale; a filter-feeder, and has ventral pleats\u2014creases that run vertically down the underside of a whale’s jaw all the way to its stomach. When feeding, the ventral pleats expand\u00a0like an accordion to accommodate a huge amount of food-rich water. \u00a0Our leather whale has those, too.<\/p>\n
As with all leather whales made in the Whale Whorkshop, at the Greenland Fishery, we don\u2019t hide any imperfections – marks, scars or tears – in the leather used to make the whales. \u00a0In fact we highlight it, to make a point about damage and the vulnerability of cetaceans.<\/p>\n
